Home » Ask a Coach: How Can My Child Stay Active in Winter?
Coach Rachel here, ready to answer your questions about Tiny Troops Soccer. Today’s question is all about staying active in the winter. Let’s dive in and take a closer look.
Parent Question: How can my child stay active in winter, especially if my local Tiny Troops Soccer program is on a break?
Staying active during winter is not just great for your child’s physical health but also for their energy levels, mood, and overall well-being. While our Tiny Troops Soccer programs operate year-round at many locations across the United States and Japan, some locations take extended winter breaks due to colder weather, icy conditions, and the lack of suitable indoor venues.
When the weather outside isn’t ideal, bring soccer practice indoors! Our Tiny Troops Soccer Virtual Classes are a convenient, interactive way for your child to continue building skills and burning off energy from the comfort of home.
Here’s why families love our virtual classes:
- Short & Sweet: Each virtual class video runs 15-20 minutes, perfect for toddlers and preschoolers with short attention spans.
- Led by Our Coaches: Your child will learn from our top coaches, who make every session fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Every coach follows a set lesson plan, featuring some of the same skills and activities from our regular classes.
- Variety of Videos: You can choose from over 20 different videos, meaning the fun doesn’t have to stop after just one class!
What you’ll need for each class:
- Space to play: Any open area where the ball can be dribbled around is great, whether that’s in your living room or outside in your backyard on a warmer day.
- A soccer ball: Use your regular size 3 soccer ball, or switch things up with a different size ball
- Water: Stay hydrated, and have a water bottle nearby for breaks

Whether it’s kicking a ball in your living room or joining one of our virtual classes, keeping things lighthearted and enjoyable will ensure your child stays active and happy all winter long.
