Tiny Trooper Journeys: Crossan’s Story
Home » Tiny Trooper Journeys: Crossan’s Story

Here at Tiny Troops Soccer, we know big goals start with little kicks. Every month, we see toddlers and preschoolers who take their first steps into the world of soccer. Over time, we watch them grow and learn beyond just learning how to dribble the ball. This post is the second in our Tiny Trooper Journeys series, where we’ll highlight the growth of longtime players in our program. Today, we’re excited to share the story of Crossan, a Tiny Trooper who has blossomed during his time with us.
Meet Crossan
Crossan began his Tiny Troops adventure in September of 2021, when he was just 2 years old in our Parent and Me classes. His parents were looking for soccer for toddlers and preschoolers, and settled on Tiny Troops Soccer. Like many new Tiny Troopers, he was hesitant at first. He was a very shy 2-year-old who was hesitant to join in on practices and listen to his coach. He needed a lot of encouragement and coaxing from his grown-ups and his coach to complete activities on Soccer Island. His story is a great example of how soccer for toddlers and preschoolers can gently introduce kids to both sports and social skills.
Improvement Over the Years
Fast forward 4 years, and Crossan recently turned 6, ready to age out of our program. He is currently part of the 4.5- to 5-year-old Advanced Skills class. In that time, Crossan has grown as a player. He has grown to be more team-oriented and has learned about soccer techniques such as cushioning the ball, trapping the ball, passing, shooting, and throwing in. Additionally, he has grown to understand that being a good sport is monumental to playing sports, as well as listening to the coaches when they are giving feedback.
Crossan has also applied his soccer knowledge to other areas of his life, such as utilizing his agility and speed when playing with other kids, as well as effectively communicating with others and succeeding as a team. He recently received the “Good Sportsmanship” award in PE at his school, telling his family that his coach taught him that skill. His progress shows how soccer for toddlers and preschoolers goes far beyond the field. It also builds life skills that last.
Favorite Part of Soccer
Probably one of the best parts of attending soccer classes is that Crossan gets to play with his best friend, Carter. Carter started just six months after Crossan when he turned 2. These two boys love to play together on and off Soccer Island, and help each other learn new skills. What could be better than growing up playing soccer with one of your best friends?
Crossan’s journey shows that Tiny Troops Soccer is about much more than soccer for toddlers and preschoolers. Our classes are designed to help kids build confidence, friendships, and life skills while having fun. Every Tiny Trooper grows at their own pace, and with time, support, and play, they can achieve amazing things, both on and off Soccer Island. That’s why we believe developmental soccer for toddlers and preschoolers is the perfect first step in any child’s sports journey.
Stay tuned for more stories in our Tiny Trooper Journeys series as we continue to celebrate the incredible growth of our longtime players!
