Preparing for Summer Classes
Home » Preparing for Summer Classes
It’s the beginning of summer classes on Soccer Island, and your Tiny Trooper is ready to continue learning and playing with their friends. However, summer brings an increase in heat, and so this Parent Playbook post is all about being prepared for summer classes.
Wear Cool Clothing & Proper Footwear
Dress your Tiny Trooper in comfortable clothing. Athletic shorts and dry-fit shirts let air circulate, and can keep your Tiny Trooper cooler when playing on Soccer Island. Avoid clothing made of heavy fabric or anything that is tight-fitting.
Even though it is summer, it’s important to wear correct footwear. Closed-toed shoes should always be worn. Cleats are recommended, but not required. Shoes should not be loose so as to fly off the foot when dribbling or kicking the ball.
Sunscreen and Bug Spray
Protect delicate skin from the sun. Don’t forget to put sunscreen on your Tiny Trooper before classes. Fifteen to thirty minutes prior is recommended. Also, don’t forget to put some on yourself! Sunburns are no fun.
Are bugs an annoying problem at your location? Add some bug spray to your soccer bag. Your little one (and you!) will appreciate not having to deal with pesky gnats during class.
Water to Hydrate
Water is important when playing an outdoor activity for an extended period of time, but especially in the summer months when the heat increases. Don’t forget the water bottle and plenty of extra water, just in case. If you forget water, coaches should have a spare water bottle or two on hand. Coaches provide water breaks between activities, and may provide more on days where the temperature is higher.
Other Optional Items to Consider
Some other items we’ve seen families pack for classes include cooling fans or cooling towels. Cooling fans can provide a nice breeze during water breaks. Cooling towels can be put around the neck to help cool your Tiny Trooper off between activities or after classes. Just make sure to keep these items off Soccer Island when it’s time to play again!
Tiny Troops Soccer’s Heat Policy
There are times when the heat is too much for our young Tiny Troopers. Coaches will be monitoring the heat index during classes and will modify classes as needed. An excessive heat index will warrant a cancellation of classes, and a makeup class will be scheduled. Following the guidelines above for summer classes will help your Tiny Trooper to be prepared.
Summer soccer classes with Tiny Troops Soccer are full of fun and movement. A little preparation for the heat helps ensure your Tiny Trooper can focus on exploring Soccer Island this summer! Not yet joined us? Find a class and enroll today!
