Moving Up a Level in Tiny Troops Soccer

Did your Tiny Trooper recently celebrate a birthday? If they did, happy birthday! Getting older often means moving up a level in Tiny Troops Soccer to a new class group. Our Mini Movers become part of our 2-year-old groups, our 3-year-olds join our 3/4 year old groups, and, at select locations, our 5-year-olds join our 4.5/5-year-old groups. As a parent, you might be wondering what changes occur when a child moves up to a different class. Today’s Parent Playbook is all about what to expect from the transition.

Mini Movers to 2-Year-Old Classes

There isn’t too much of a change when your little one moves up from the Mini Movers. The class runtime is the same, and many of the skills are the same. There is one additional activity added to the class plans. At 2-years-old, Tiny Troopers are beginning to move at a faster pace, and learning to understand directions better. Transitions are slightly faster. What you’ll notice most as a parent during this stage of moving up a level in Tiny Troops Soccer is your child’s growth! Watch as they learn to understand the skills and can demonstrate them more easily.

2-Year-Old Parent and Me to Solo 3 and 4-Year-Old Classes

Transitioning into the 3 and 4-Year-Old classes is a big step for our Tiny Troopers. These classes are 45 minutes long, instead of just 25 minutes. Tiny Troopers are also by themselves on Soccer Island for the first time as their grownups watch from the sidelines. An increase in class time means time for more activities and more skills. Tiny Troopers will learn skills such as pullbacks, rollovers, the Maradona Chop, passing, and shielding. This age group is also introduced to scrimmages and learning to play soccer in a game situation. Scrimmages are played at the end of the second and third classes. When moving up a level in Tiny Troops Soccer, you may notice your Tiny Trooper struggles with the change at first, and that’s completely normal. Many Tiny Troopers take the first month to adjust to the changes.

3 and 4-Year-Old Classes to 4.5/5-Year-Old Classes (Select Locations)

The final age group offered from Tiny Troops Soccer is our 4.5/5-Year-Old class. This class only runs at select locations. The runtime for this class increases to 55 minutes. Tiny Troopers are introduced to more advanced activities, and we add the throw in skill in as well. This class is meant to act as a preparation for recreational league soccer. Players need shin guards for classes at this level. Tiny Troopers in this age group will play a scrimmage at the end of every class. These Tiny Troopers are learning about working as a team, and their scrimmages often resemble recreational league play. For many families, moving up a level in Tiny Troops Soccer at this stage is exciting because kids start to see how their skills connect in real games.
